Just Another Hangup...

When I went in for chemo on Monday, the nurse could not access my port without sending a shot of pain up over my shoulder. Today I went in for a port study and found that I have a leaky port, which means that I will have to have another surgery to repair/replace it. I don't know more than that for now but will keep you posted- I hope everyone is enjoying the last few days of 2010- When it ends so will our school break so live it up girls! lol

Here I Go Again

Back to chemo tomorrow- so I guess that means another week or so of exhaustion. Who knows tho', maybe I can beat it this week- I haven't had the rush of trying to get things done or work for over a week now so maybe, just maybe I can take the bull by the horns and stay in control this time. It's only the 2nd session and hopefully I will find out a number that I am working towards. I think a countdown would, must be helpful.

I am now losing my hair so the next time any of you see me I will no doubt be wearing a wig or have a hat on. I lasted 16 days before it started coming out. Didn't like that shower at all- today was a little better, I just am not ready to have Chris shave my head yet- maybe tomrrow.  I don't know, I just don't like the thought of shaving it ALL off. I like my hair, but Chris just reminds me that I am one step closer to being over this damn thing. We knew it was going to happen so I don't need to dwell on it.

Allison got a really great looking hat for Christmas from a dear friend of ours; I just might need to borrow it from her, it looks awfully warm.  :-).

Well, I guess that does it for tonight. I hope everyone hs had a restful weekend along with a joyous Christmas. Enjoy your week!

Merry Christmas World

It has been a very pleasant Christmas Eve. A very relaxing day, just daudled around the house some, wrapped a few more presents & messed with a new printer that won't print my pictures-(argh! there goes my relaxed feeling again).  We wemt to Mass tonight but as I was getting ready, I touched my head and saw a few hairs on the sink. I rubbed my head and quite a few more took flight- I knew it was coming but I guess, somewhere in the back of my mind, I wa hoping, just a little, that I wouldn't loose it yet, this early anyway. Oh well, time to look on the bright side of it and get myself to look forward to my wig and having a full head of hair on top for a change!- with no bald spot! lol. So, I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year!

Hello World!

I feel absolutely wonderful today! This past week hasn't been what I had expected, I think, but then again, I don't know what I expected either- I just know I as exhasted and finally gave in on Thursday and stayed home to rest. I worked Friday, but no kiddos, just the big kids! We had our annual auction and Maria, our secretary, was more wild han ususal- isn't amazing what a little cold medicine can do to a person? I am sure that there was no stress involved for her either- just her in-laws 550th wedding anniversary party today, and she was giving it-  Anyway, I was tired even after that.  When I got home and got the phone call that my bloood count levels were low so I need to stay away form the public I figured that ust be the reason! So, I am house arrest for a few days to keep out of the public germs.

I am really looking forward to this next week since chemo will be put off til the 27th- I expect to feel as good as I do now if not better, come on blood cell count- keep rising; I have baking to do and candies to make not to mention cards and other fun projects to work on as well.
I wish you all a wonderful week full of wellness, cheer, and time to spend with loved ones.

Happy Christmas to all and to all a good day!

Special People

We are in Lexington, at the KY State Special Olympics Bowling Tourney, with about 2-4- inches of snow; you know how I LOVE that white stuff! UGH, but I will admit it's pretty and I am glad Chris is driving...  Anyway, I want to take a moment to thank some very special people for making this fabulous weekend possible. I know that many other people are here and out there helping as well, but a special thanks is in for Laura, Chuck & Abby! I can't imagine how or where you find the energy to do this for us and our children. Thanks a million guys.

Boomer!

Sooner should be what is buzzing through your head as you read this- lol. I am thankful for Sooner football! It is something my DH & I enjoy together whether we are in Norman (once a year when we are lucky) or at home watching from the comfort and warmth of our Sooner Room. Tonight we will watch the Bedlam Bowl cheering almost as enthusiastically as if we were in the stands, again. Go big Red!!!

Thankfulness

I am thankful today that all those indians and pilgrims settled into a great feast together so that we could have this great country to live in and a day to feast and remember all the blessings that we have, especially family and friends.
I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and may blessings be bountiful!

Rah-Rah

I just got home from my daughter's 1st Special Olympic Cheer-leading team practice. What a great time they had. I am thankful today for those that re able to help these special people have fun and do activities that they may have only dreamed of doing. If you have never watched a special athlete participate in something, you should give yourself a present and find the time. It will really warm your heart.

Snips & Trails & Critter Tails

How can my critters be left out when it comes to being thankful for the wonderful things in my life- by the way I am not doing this in order of importance-lol. We have always had pets as far back as I can remember; and so have our kids. My DH & I have always had a pet or two or more since we have been married and even before that. And a wide range of pets at that!
We have enjoyed the typical pets like dogs, cats, birds, aquariums and then we just kept going... a pond of Koi, chickens ( a couple of times), a piggie, a goat or two and our son raised an orphaned racooon who was truly a fun pet; we eventually released him back into the wild, which happened to be the woods around our home. We think he still comes to visit, maybe looking for a vanilla wafer or a marshmallow- his favorite treats!

If you are not a pet kind of person you are missing out on some of the best times and memories ever. Thanks for the memories

Veteran's Day

How could I ever think of being thankful for anything other than all the men & women that have made my home safe for me to live in and enjoy my freedoms that our forefathers set forth for this wonderful nation?
Thank you to all of you and those that are no longer here for me to thank, to their families. God Bless America

Today?

I returned to work after being off for a week. I was pleasantly (tho' not really all that) surprised, by the shower of hugs that I received from all my friends big & little. Some even came back for more. The children are what we are all there for, but the people that I work with are wonderful and truly there for each ofther as well.  So caring about everyone and everything. When one of us is going through something, we are all there, be it for support, a shoulder or a hug; they truly are wonderful co-workers as well as friends. I thank all of them for all that they have done to show their support and compassion for each other.

Thank you

Today I find myself thinking of all my cousins that I have reconnected with recently. I am so thankful for you! I hope that we just keep growing and find more in common and that writing to each other (or calling) will come naturally, without a second thought. I hope to add new happy memories to the old happy memories I have from my childhood of cousins coming to visit or me going to your house! Happy days everyone and I wish you a wonderfull week too! Love to all of you

I'm late, I'm late

It's just about 8 pm & I'm just now posting!

Today my heart is thankful for sisters.  All kinds, blood, in-laws and even those friends that are close enough to my heart that I think of them too as sisters. I can't imagine where or who I would be today, were it not for all of my sisters that had their hand in helping mold me into who I am today. Thanks gals, especially you, Jeni, for all you have done, still do and for all that is yet to be! I love you all.

My Dear Sweets

My dear sweet sister and my dear sweet brother-in-law sent me these flowers to brighten my day. Aren't they beautiful? I love seeing them everytime I walk into the room! I put the vase and a few small gourds in a basket just for the fun of it!

Rain,rain, here to stay...

For awhile at least- Not my favorite weather but we really need the rain around here. So, today I am thankful for the rain. I will sit here in my cozy home, (I turned on the heat for the first time yesterday) and enjoy my hot coffee and do a little scrappin'. Hope your day shows you something to be thankful about too.

Thankfulness

In an attempt to get myself into the habit of blogging I have decided to post something that I am thankful for everyday during November; kind of like what facebook has going.

Today I am so very thankful for my family, both close at hand and those that are a great distance from me; not just miles but also those members that I am eagerly getting to know.  I have enjoyed the messages that we have shared over the internet and look forward to not only continuing these communictions but also adding newly found members of our family.

So for now I guess this is it. Talk at ya later-

Let's get it started!

I am beginning a new chapter in my life so what better time to start a blog? I don't think that I am quite ready to go public with my "new chapter" but I will share the fact that I am at peace with it all.
